Although the production of primary aluminum is energy-intensive, there’s now an ever-growing rise in the use of sustainable energy sources such as wind and water energy in its manufacture. What's more – the material is permanently usable. With no loss to quality and properties, it can be recycled an infinite number of times using only 4 % of the original energy input. The result: the originally high energy input is progressively amortized. And, because it's low in weight, CO2 emissions released during the transport of aluminium products are low. In Switzerland and Germany, aluminum recycling rates are over 90 % – and rising. Naturally, production waste at Nansen is also fully recycled, making a further contribution to lower CO2 levels.
